The French photographer Nicolas Knepper creates detailed staging on scale, that is, without digital montages where he tells little stories full of color.
Trained in engineering, the artist precisely builds these “mises-en-scène” by resignifying culinary photography traditionally related to advertising and its visual resources. The main stage are typical French desserts (pâtisseries) in which fantastic miniature worlds populated by small characters develop.
With impertinence, humor and great care for detail, Knepper creates these unusual stories that fit perfectly into the rigorous and technical universe of culinary photography.
Knepper proposes a playful cross between gastronomy and art that plays with the diffuse limit between illusion and reality.
With these magnificent photographs, the art space of Gontran Cherrier was inaugurated, the brand-new French bakery and pastry shop located in front of the Armenia square in Palermo Soho, Buenos Aires. These works were kindly provided by the French Alliance of Buenos Aires. We especially thank Oriana Tramuset, Jeanne Jezequel and Odecréa for the management carried out to finalize this exhibition.
We announce the alliance of the art space of Gontran Cherrier with PAN Community of Arts to carry out the curation, production and management of the periodic samples of the artists that are part of the Panera.
